Dr. Rita Barroca

Dr Rita Barroca completed her specialty training in General Surgery at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Lisbon in 2010. At this institution, she held senior clinical responsibilities as a Consultant Surgeon, notably leading the colorectal laparoscopic surgery training programme and coordinating the multidisciplinary vascular access team, a pioneering initiative in Portugal.

She is a founding member of APoAVa and serves as the national representative of GloVANet, reflecting her active involvement in collaborative networks and healthcare innovation projects.

Her main clinical interests include colon and rectal cancer, with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopic and robotic surgery), general surgery, and proctology, encompassing both conservative outpatient treatments and laser‑assisted surgical procedures.
